Introduction
On 02nd April 2025, the General Assembly of EGSP-Imbuto Ltd, comprising the company’s shareholders, Chairperson, Managing Director and staff members conducted a significant field visit to Gishwati farmland. The purpose of the visit was to assess the progress and quality of basic and prebasic seed potato cultivated there —the backbone of the company’s economy. The following day, the General Assembly held a formal meeting at EGSP head office to evaluate the company’s financial performance and overall economic stability.
Field Visit to Gishwati Seed Potato Farms
The visit to the Gishwati field was of the company’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and letting all shareholders know the reality of what’s going on at the production site. The team was warmly received by EGSP-IMBUTO’s field agronomists who guided the shareholders through the various plots under cultivation, seeds were at the last stage_ ready to be harvested in three weeks to come.
During the tour, shareholders had the opportunity to examine the health, quality of the seed potatoes and topography of the production site. Particular attention was paid to the quality of prebasic seeds, pest control measures, the application of sustainable farming practices (digging holes to hold rain water) and lastly the challenges that agronomists face during seeds production.
General feedback from the delegation was positive, with reference to the production site’s complicated topography and climate variability. to the other hand, there were also comments from different shareholders, who shared valuable insights on how to alleviate some challenges. This exchange of information contributed to a more understanding of the current state of operations in Gishwati production filed.
